The images in my paintings come from my imagination, but are often rooted in the vast files of photos I take, whether flowers in a garden, cities I love, ponds of koi fish or other sites from my travels.
While fascinated by the human form, the people in my paintings are not those one meets in daily life; they are actors, geishas, clowns, women and men hiding behind masks and fans, often revealing in their eyes and mouths the emotions I sense behind their painted beauty.
My heels are planted in the 20th Century world of abstraction and collage, but my use of digital photo surfaces and light boxes has my toes wiggling in the 21st.
